Main part of the design history tutorial in Design Kolleg is redesigning a design classic and building a functional prototype of the redesigned object.

The idea is to develop the "eclisse" lamp into a modular, flexible light system. The customer can build an individual lamp with an easy to handle plug connection. Each element can be extended with a lens or a screen.
